PURPOSE:To form a negative polymer image with high sensitivity by developing a photographic material using an addition polymerizing vinyl compound and silver halide having a developing nucleus with a specified phenol compound. CONSTITUTION:A photographic material is developed (reduced) with a phenol compound represented by general formulasI, II, III, IV or V {where A is O or S, R1 is alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, substituted aryl or aralkyl, each of R2 and R2' is H, alkyl, substituted alkyl, alkoxy, thioalkyl, aryl, substituted aryl or halogen, R3 is aryl, substituted aryl or aralkyl, X is -CH2-, -CH(CH3)-, -C(CH3)2-, ?-S-, -C(CH3)[(CH2)nCOOH]-, and n is 1-4}, and at the same time, a polymer is formed at the silver image part. |
