PURPOSE:To obtain a surface insulating layer having superior surface lubricity and electric characteristics by oneself and capable of forming a seamless drum by forming the surface of an image retaining member with a specified resin. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting terephthalic acid-base unsatd. polyester resin having a terminal hydroxyl group is converted into a linear polymer with a resin contg. isocyanate, and a reaction of high degree is caused with the unsatd. groups of the polyester resin to obtain high hardness, superior electric characteristics and surface lubricity. For example, a coating is prepared by adding 100 parts thermosetting terephthalic acid-base unsatd. polyester resin, 20 parts xylylene diisocyanate, 10 parts styrene monomer, a setting accelerator and a catalyst to methyl ethyl ketone, and after forming a sealing layer and a lower insulating layer on a photoreceptor drum, the coating is applied and set at 25 deg.C in 30min to form a surface insulating layer. |
