PURPOSE:To form an uncoated section at the predetermined position of a substrate without damaging the substrate and changing the thickness of the layer of a coating agent by changing and correcting the angle of a reverse guide roller with respect to the longitudinal direction of the substrate based on the detection signal of the edge position in the width direction of the substrate having passed a slitter. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 1 coated with a coating agent 4 is lifted upward after its transfer direction is reversed by a reverse guide roller 6, then it passes a slitter 8, the thickness of the layer of the coating agent 4 is made constant by the slitter 8, and an uncoated section extending in the longitudinal direction of the substrate 1 is formed. The angle of the reverse guide roller 6 with respect to the longitudinal direction of the substrate 1 is changed based on the detection signal of the position of an edge 1a in the width direction of the substrate 1 having passed the slitter 8, the winding position for the reverse guide roller 6 of the substrate 1 is corrected, and the feed direction is corrected. Accordingly, the attitude of the substrate 1 fed to the slitter 8 is invariably corrected, and the uncoated section cen be formed at the predetermined position of the substrate 1 without damaging the substrate 1 and changing the thickness of the layer of the coating agent 4. |
