METHOD FOR CONTROLLING PRINTING HAMMER OF HIGH-SPEED PRINTER

PURPOSE:To improve print quality by a method wherein the time for driving each of the printing hammers for striking a printing type on a printing type carrier is electrically computed and determined. CONSTITUTION:A high-speed printer is equipped with a pitch storage means 78 for converting into time each of all pitches between printing types 11 on a printing type carrier 10 and storing the time; a data storage means 82 for converting into time the space between the centers of printing hammers 19 and storing the time value; a time measuring means 90 for measuring the time elapsed since the previous commencement of driving; and an operation-comparing means for computing and determining the driving timing by reading the time data out of the pitch storage means 78 when each of the printing hammer 19 is driven and for generating a coincidence output when the computed result agrees to the time given by the time measuring means 90. The output of this operation-comparing means 87 is used as the timing signal for driving each printing hammer 19.
