The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for obtaining biogas from organic substances such as straw, farmyard manure and the like. According to the invention, the floor of a pig, cattle or poultry house is used as heat exchanger area through which the body heat of housed livestock can be delivered to slurry or other organic substance which can be introduced into cavities in the floor.
