Process for producing oriented short-fibre webs

A process is proposed for producing webs of oriented short fibres for composite materials. A fibre suspension is directed as a continuous stream parallel to a porous wall through which the suspension fluid passes by means of a pressure gradient at a velocity which is less than the flow velocity of the fibre suspension while the fibres are deposited on the porous wall in an oriented state. To enhance the orientation of the fibres or to achieve multidirectional orientation the porous wall is set in motion, the direction of motion of the porous wall being other than the direction of flow of the fibre suspension.
