Method for controlling cutting on electronic yarn cleaners

Electronic yarn cleaners must be capable of monitoring a large range of different yarn diameters and of cutting through. The electromagnetically actuated cutting devices of the yarn cleaners therefore always have a capacity rated for the thickest yarn of their measuring range. The capacity of the cutting device, which is then overrated where thin yarns are concerned, leads to unnecessarily rapid wear and damage to the cutting elements. This is prevented, according to the invention, in that the capacity of the cutting device is adjusted automatically in proportion to the diameter of the yarn monitored by the yarn cleaner and a substantially longer lifetime of the cutting device is thereby achieved.
