PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of manufacturing substrates for liq. crystal display devices by alternately forming a plurality of upper and lower electrode patterns on a surface of a glass plate. CONSTITUTION:Upper electrode patterns, e.g., segment electrodes 22a, 22b are formed on a surface of a glass plate 21, and electrically conductive films 23a, 23b for applying voltage are lead out. Lower electrode patterns, e.g., opposite electrodes 25a, 25b and electrically conductive films 24a, 24b for applying voltage are formed below the upper patterns. The electrodes 22a, 22b, 25a, 25b and the films 23a, 23b, 24a, 24b are electrically conductive transparent films of SnO2 or the like, and they are simultaneously formed by photoetching through a prescribed mask. By this method, substrates for liq. crystal display devices can be manufactured efficiently in large quantities. |
