Double-acting electric motors

The invention of double-acting electric motors (electric motors which act on two sides) is based on the principle of a linear drive having a rotating annular rotor (1) which may comprise one or two parts and, in consequence, an identical or opposite rotation direction of the output drive shafts (4) is ensured. Depending on how large the output drive rotation speed range is intended to be, suitable gears (2) can be integrated. The annular rotors (1) guarantee that the two output drive shafts (4) are driven at absolutely synchronous output drive rotation speeds without the slightest mutual angular displacement within a revolution. The rated power depends on the number of inductor double-comb segments (3) installed. The rotation speeds can be continuously regulated using a thyristor controller. Because of these properties, double-acting electric motors are intended for the following areas of use: in machine constructon, they are used as drive units for two synchronously running machines, in conveyor technology they ensure synchronous running of two conveyor belts, and in aviation and space technology as well as defence, they are the building block of all "novel drive systems". <IMAGE>
