PURPOSE:To prevent the overload operation of a motor by controlling a transmission which couples a compressor to the motor in response to the load current of the motor. CONSTITUTION:A compressor 4 for a refrigerator is coupled through a transmission 5 to a motor 7. A controller 10 controls a speed shifting pilot motor 6 in response to the deviation between the load current value of the motor 7 detected by a current transformer CT and the rated current value, thereby varying the speed shifting ratio of the transmission 5. In this manner, the overload operation of the motor 7 can be prevented. |
