PURPOSE:To obtain inexpensive liq. crystal display elements of high reliability and uniform quality by simultaneously orienting upper and lower electrode substrates having formed prescribed patterns and by joining both the substrates together with a sealant in-between. CONSTITUTION:An upper electrode substrate 6 and a lower electrode substrate 7 each obtd. by forming a plurality of electrically conductive transparent films having a prescribed pattern on a glass substrate are simultaneously oriented by rubbing or diagonal vapor deposition. An inorg. or org. sealant 8 having a prescribed sealing pattern corresponding to the films is screen-printed, and both the substrates 6, 7 are superposed on each other. The sealant 8 is then cured to join the substrates 6, 7 together. The resulting display cells 9 are separated into separate display cells by cutting along the cutting lines 10, and after injecting a liq. crystal substance, the cells are sealed to form liq. crystal display elements. |
