PURPOSE:To shorten a code word length representing a sub-scanning line density, by changing the length of a fill code inserted at each one scanning line to assure the processing time of one scanning line corresponding to a sub-scanning line density. CONSTITUTION:To assure the processing time for decoding or recording, if the coding data of one line of picture is a prescribed length or below, a fill code F is inserted before a synchronizing signal S by a required length. When the synchronizing signal S is detected at a reception side, the fill code F is removed. Since the fill code F gives no effect even if the code is inserted in excess of required length, 8lines/mm. and 4lines/mm. are used as a sub-scanning density, and the scanning is made normally at 8lines/mm., and when the obtained signal is entirely the same as that of the line just above, the scanning is switched to 4lines/mm.. To inform it to the reception side, when the length of the fill code is an even number, 8lines/mm. is employed and when an odd number, 4lines/mm. is adopted. |
