PURPOSE:To prevent the dissociation of CO2 molecule generated at the time of electric discharge and to increase the laser output in the sealed type carbon dioxide gas laser oscillator, by providing a reaction chamber which is communicated to a part of a laser tube in said tube, and enclosing metallic hydride. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of the sealed type CO2 laser tube 1 are blocked by reflecting mirrors 2 and 3 constituting a resonator. A laser beam 9 is emitted from the reflection mirror 2 by using a laser exciting power source 4. In this constitution, an opening is provided at the central part of the laser tube 1. The reaction chamber 5, wherein the metallic hydride 6 is enclosed, is welded to the opening and surrounded by a reaction furnace 7. The furnace 7 is controlled by a temperature controller 8. Nb is used as the metallic hydride 6. The surface thereof is coated by a Pd film having high hydrogen permeability and low oxidizing characteristic. In this device, hydrogen can be always supplied when hydrogen in the discharge tube is decreased by adsorption and the like, while the partial pressure of hydrogen becomes constant, and the operating time becomes longer. |
