PURPOSE:To increase the speed of operation and to save energy by stopping the electric discharging of respective chargers individually so that the surface of a photoreceptor has the potential equal over the entire part and the potential roughly equal to that after the seconary charging. CONSTITUTION:After the discharging of a primary charger 2 is stopped, stopping of the discharging of a secondary charger is accomplished right after the passage of the primarily charged photoreceptor surface 1, and the discharging for predestaticization is stopped at the point of the time when the trailing end of the phototosentitive layer surface subjected to transfer charging upon stopping of the discharging of a transfer charger 6 receives the discharging for predestaticization. By this method, the surface 1 is charged to the potential after the secondary charging and the potential after the predestaticization, and since these potentials are usually nearly the same potentials, the surface 1 has roughly uniform potential. At the same time, exposure other than image exposure is accomlished by which the nonuniformity of the electric charge of the photoconductive layer in the photosensitive layer is erased as well. In this way, the speed of operation is made high and electric power consumption is made less. |
