The caravan superstructure is constructed in the form of an enclosed self-bearing box which can be mounted in its entirety on the chassis of a motor vehicle. In order to ensure that a stable assembly is produced, the superstructure which is composed of single pieces of rigid foamed plastic material panels (sandwich panels; 1, 2, 3, 4), preferably made of polyurethane, which are coated on each side with aluminium, is secured in such a way that its ends which adjoin one another at right angles are inserted into aluminium profile strips (6) and connected to one another by means of a special polyurethane-based adhesive to form a unit, the part (3) which forms the alcove, the roof and the rear wall being produced in a seamless fashion from a single panel of the abovementioned material without damage to the outer skin of the aluminium. The caravan superstructure has a base panel (10 and 40, respectively) made of laminated rigid foamed plastic material which is attached by means of an aluminium T profile (7) which runs around the inside of the walls formed from the sandwich panels (1, 2, 3, 4). <IMAGE>
