A boat-transporting roof rack for private passenger vehicles has two supporting beams (2, 2') which are to be fastened to the vehicle roof so as to be parallel to one another and one essentially rectangular frame (3, 3') which accommodates the boat (B). The said frame is guided so as to be displaceable on the supporting beams (2, 2') in the longitudinal direction of the latter and in such a way that it can be fastened to them. One of its ends can, when the frame (3, 3') has been fully pulled out with respect to the supporting beams (2, 2'), be folded down together with the boat (B) until the free frame end (4b) is supported on the floor. The frame (3, 3') can be fully released from the supporting beams (2, 2') when it has been folded down and has at least two wheels (7) to enable it to be used as a sliding trolley for the boat (B) which can be lashed to the frame (3, 3'). <IMAGE>
