The invention relates to a shearing cylinder which has a hollow cylinder body and drawn-on shearing-knife spirals, characterised in that the hollow cylinder body is of heatable design. It is especially advantageous to heat the interior wall of the hollow cylinder body, this preferably taking place by means of electrically operated heating bands known per se and attached to the inner wall. In an alternative version of the invention, hot air or hot vapour is conveyed through the hollow cylinder body. A journal-free hollow cylinder body is expediently used, the hollow cylinder body being mounted at the ends directly in ball or needle bearings.
