The present invention relates to an oil burner with a fuel-supply line which is fed from a pump via a shut-off valve and at the burner-side end of which a nozzle is arranged. Such oil burners are regularly stopped by making the pump currentless and by closing the shut-off valve, usually a solenoid valve. However, the heat of the combustion space subsequently acts on the oil-supply line from the shut-off valve to the nozzle, and the fuel still located here expands, fuel consequently dripping into the combustion space. The object on which the present invention is based is to avoid this so-called subsequent dripping, and the object is achieved in that there is arranged between the shut-off valve and the nozzle of the supply line a vacuum generator, to the suction point of which a vacuum space is connected. While the oil burner is operating normally, therefore, a vacuum is built up, and, after the closing of the shut-off valve, leads to oil being sucked back out of the fuel line, so that an expansion of volume as a result of the subsequent heat does not lead to dripping.
