The invention relates to an arrangement with a vehicle body having a roof and with a rail, which is fixedly mounted on the roof, for a roof rack. The latter is composed of two longitudinal beams (1a) which form the rail, and transverse rods (9) which are arranged between the beams and are releasably fastened to the latter. Each transverse rod (9) comprises a hollow profiled section, the open ends of which each have a fitting piece (10, 11) which is provided with a mounting, and one (11) of which is longitudinally displaceable in the transverse rod (9). For ease of assembly, it is proposed according to the invention that one of the mountings be formed from a lever (20), which is mounted in the associated fitting piece (10) and the hook-shaped end (22) of which grips a wall region (24), which delimits an aperture (25) in the adjacent beam (1a), from behind under the force of a spring (23). The other mounting is composed of a pin (19) which is assigned to the associated fitting piece (11) and is inserted into an aperture in the other beam under the force of another spring (15). <IMAGE>
