The device is preferably used in the manufacture of sand casting moulds. The object of the invention is, within the context of the manufacture of sand casting moulds, to reduce the nuisance to the environment caused by dust and to eliminate the nuisance caused by separation agent mist when cleaning and spraying the models. The aim of the invention is to provide a device, with the aid of which the model plates are automatically cleaned and sprayed with separation agent in the production cycle without environmental nuisance. The aim is achieved by the device consisting of a hood which rests on a sealing strip inside the mould-box support surface and is acted upon with a suction flow by a first suction line and which has spray nozzles which open into the hood and are coupled to a controlled compressed-air line and a separation- agent container, and by a second suction line being arranged, which opens into preferably four suction nozzles which are situated outside the hood and are directed towards the mould-box support surface. <IMAGE>
