摘要 PURPOSE:To improve measuring accuracy of the grain size of a granular body in moving or stationary accumulative state, by photographing after jetting a fine powder slurry on the surface of the granular body having unevenness on its surface. CONSTITUTION:When the shape of the surface of a granular body 18 is remarkably uneven, the shadow produced by the grain boundary of the surface of the body 18 is photographed, but the shadow basing on the unevenness of the face is photographed and the error in the measurement of grain size should occure. For this reason, a fine powder slurry 20 is jetted on the surface of the body 18 moving on a belt conveyor 8 in an accumulative state through a nozzle 10. At this time, the uneven shape at the body 18 is eliminated by the slurry 20 and only the shadow of a grain boundary remains. This state is picked up by using a television camera 12 and an illuminator 14 and raw material of the body 18 is charged in a blast furnace 6. A mean grain size of the body 18 is found by a repeating number of light and darkness of picked up picture. In this manner, the mean grain size of the body 18 in the accumulative state is measured with high accuracy.
