PURPOSE:To reduce a space occupied by a drive unit for a rotary kiln or the like and as well to prevent the drive unit from being subjected to the influence of dust, by attaching, to the input shaft of the main drive unit, an auxiliary power transmitting element through a bracket having a hollow shaft in which the extension of the input shaft is arranged to be engaged with a clutch. CONSTITUTION:A slide shaft part 15 is pushed by an operating lever 20 when the latter is raised counterclockwise for being abutted against a stopper 25 and is then inserted with a positioning pin 27, and, therefore, pawl clutch pieces 18, 19 are engaged together. In this stage, auxiliary power from an auxiliary power unit which is not shown, is transmitted to the slide shaft part 15 through a sprocket wheel 13, a bearing part 14 and a slide key 17, and, then, to an input shaft 4 through the pawl clutch pieces 18, 19. Thereby, a working machine which is not shown, is driven at a slow speed. With this arrangement, the axially overhanging length of the main drive unit may be reduced, and, further, a foundation below the extension of the input shaft is eliminated and as well the bad influence of dust etc. may be prevented. |
