The circuit comprises a photo-thyristor (1) without emitter short-circuit, configured to be fired by illumination (3) of its trigger (G). A transistor (2) in series with a resistor (R2) is connected up between the trigger and the cathode (C) of the photo-thyristor. Another resistor (R1) connected in parallel with the transistor determines the maximum sensitivity of the photo-thyristor when the transistor is blocked. When it is saturated, the resultant of its saturation resistance and the two previous resistances (R1, R2) determines a lesser sensitivity of the photo-thyristor, which may rise as far as total latching of the latter. <IMAGE>
