To improve recognition of umbrella carriers using the roads, the umbrella (1) is provided at the free ends of the covering rods with an application (6) of luminous colour, for which purpose an extension piece (3) may be arranged at the ends (2) of the covering rods. A further application (6) of luminous colour is also provided at the top (5) of the umbrella stick (4) which may be used on its own or in combination with the extension pieces (3). <IMAGE>
