The gripping device consists of a rotary grip (1) and a protective collar (2) surrounding it. The protective collar (2) is designed as a dual-walled trough with a bottom (9), an inner wall (13) and an outer wall (15) connected to the inner wall via a front surface (15). The bottom (9) is circular, the inner wall (13) is cylindrical, and the outer wall (15) runs along the sides of a square. The rotary grip (1) is received in the space bounded by the bottom (9) and the inner wall (13) and has a bar-shaped handle (3) and four sector-shaped flange parts (4) moulded thereon in a butterfly manner. At diametrically opposite places, the inner wall (13) and the outer wall (14) are provided with corresponding openings (16) for the insertion of two padlocks. Each lock of this type, as a stop, blocks a rotary movement of the rotary grip (1) in its switched-off position and prevents removal of the rotary grip (1) due to the adjacent flange part (4) of the rotary grip (1). The flange parts (4) also permanently cover attachment holes (11) and attachment screws in the bottom (9) and bound surface areas of the bottom which are dependent on the position of the rotary grip (1) for labelling the positions. <IMAGE>
