In the present method for selecting and threading threads onto a starter device, the threads to be started are disposed in straight, differently aligned paths, and are rotated about fixed points for drawing the threads. During this rotation, the threads are juxtaposed in the same number of selector lines, and each thread is captured by the selector line which has the same alignment. Thus, when rotation is completed, each thread is disposed between the corresponding fixed point and the corresponding selector line. The present device for selecting and threading threads comprises a fixed point (10a, 10b, etc.) on the path of each thread (18a, 18b, etc.) with means for engaging and conveying the threads during the starting operations (17), and a winder device which comprises a plurality of bobbins (12a, 12b, etc.). The device for engaging and conveying the threads (17) is provided with mechanical means for displacing this device between a position for capturing the threads (18a, 18b, etc.) and positions for engaging the threads with selector lines. <IMAGE>
