PURPOSE:To remarkably improve a catalytic activity, by incorporating at least sodium and cesium as cationic components and chlorine as an anionic component in addition to silver in a catalyst for preparing ethylene oxide. CONSTITUTION:Catalytic components such as silver, sodium, cesium and chlorine are sustained on a porous refractoy carrier having an apparent porosity of at least 15%, to obtain a catalyst for preparation of ethylene oxide. A sodium compound as the catalytic component is preferably sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate or the like. Its amount is preferably 100ppm to 1.25wt% of the catalyst. A cesium compound as the catalytic component is preferably its chloride. Its amount is effectively 10ppm to 0.5wt% of the catalyst. The chlorine souce includes sodium chloride, cesium chloride or the like. Its amount is preferably 5ppm to 0.1wt% of the catalyst. |
