Title compds. I(R1,R1',R1",R3 = H, Ph, substituted Ph, Ph-lower alkyl, di-Ph-lower alkyl; R2 = H, C1-4 alkyl; A = H, acetyl, Ph; B,D = H) were prepd. by reacting compd. II and III. Thus, a mixt. of N-formyl-4-diphenylmethylpiperidine and dimethylsulfate was heated and stirred with methylene chloride and ethylamine at 25≦̸C for 1.5 hr and then the resultant was treated with 3N NaOH, distilled, recrystallized to give 4-(diphenylmethyl)-1-N-ethyliminomethylpiperidine oxalate hemihydrate(m.p. 185-7≦̸C).
