PURPOSE:To contrive to attain a remarkable improvement by a method wherein fluxes of main laser medium gas and cooling medium gas are adjusted. CONSTITUTION:A reflection mirror 9 and an output mirror 10 are provided, which are placed to be faced to each other so as to be fixed perpendicularly to the central axis of the discharge tube 8 at the bothends of a linear discharge tube 8 which is composed of insulators and form an optical resonator. And at both sides of the discharge tube 8 a main laser medium gas inlet 11 and at the midpoint a medium gas outlet 12 are provided, and discharge electrodes 13, 14 are formed at positions that correspond to the inlet and the outlet individually. A high voltage D.C. source 15 is connected between discharge electrodes 13, 14 so that an electric energy to excite medium gas may be supplied, and furthermore between the main laser medium gas inlet 11 and the medium gas outlet 12, an inlet 16 for cooling medium gas is provided. At each medium gas inlet 11, 16, flux control valves 19, 20 are provided individially, and a proper mixture ratio is given between fluxes of main laser medium gas and cooling medium gas. |
