PURPOSE:To detect the curving of the edge part of a medium by installing a medium detecting means which crosses at right angles with the transport direction at a prescribed height from a transport surface and in the horizontal direction onto a medium collision surface, in the transport system for the flexible medium. CONSTITUTION:A sensor 2 is a medium detecting sensor installed in the vertical direction, and a sensor 3 is an aslantly traveling medium detecting sensor A installed in the vertical direction in the vicinity of a collision surface 1. A sensor 4 is an aslantly traveling medium detecting sensor B which crosses at right angles with the transport direction at a prescribed height from a transport surface 20 and is installed in the horizontal direction onto the collision surface 1. Therefore, a medium is detected by the sensor 2, and the sensor 3 is turned-ON, and then turned-OFF, keeping the sensor 3 in OFF state and the sensor 2 in ON state, the aslant traveling is detected. When the sensors 2, 3, and 4 are turned-ON, the curving of the edge of the medium is detected. with such constitution, the curving of the edge part of the medium can be detected.
