PURPOSE:To make purchase of an expensive ROM pack unnecessary when a voice output is not required, by so constituting that a voice outputs a translation data only when a detachable ROM pack is installed. CONSTITUTION:An operating signal from a key input part 51 is sent to a control part 52, the head address in a Japanese language display data ROM53 is designated, and a Japanese lenguage display data is sent to a character generator 55. Subsequently, from the generator 55, a prescribed character pattern is displayed 58 in Japanese through a display driving circuit 57. In case when it is desired to translate the displayed 58 Japanese language into English, an operating signal of a mode switch and a translation key which are not shown in the figure, of the key input part 51 is sent to the control part 52, and a signl for designating an address is outputted to the English language display data ROM54 and an Engish language voice data ROM56. As a result, an English language display data is displayed 58 from the ROM54, and also an English language voice data of the ROM56 is sent to a loudspeaker 62 through a voice synthesizing circuit 60. |
