Method and device for starting and operating a heating burner, in particular of a vehicle heating system with a glow plug, in which, in a pre-glowing phase, the glow plug is switched on and then fuel and an air flow are introduced into the heating burner. In order to achieve a safe ignition of the burner in a simple manner, the air flow is introduced in a temporally delayed manner with regard to the fuel and to a certain extent a fuel forerun is created. As a result, there is in the starting phase a rich fuel mixture which favours the starting operation. According to an advantageous embodiment, the air flow is introduced intermittently until the burner ignites so that cold-blowing of the glow plug is avoided. <IMAGE> |
