Gases or liqs. are filtered to remove solid or liq. impurities using a fibre filter material, e.g. stone or rock wool, which partly exhibits a layer structure. Along the main part of the total fibre length the fibres exhibit a direction which deviates less than 45 degrees, pref. at most 20 degrees, from the direction of a main direction plane of the fibres. During filtering the filtered medium is brough to flow away from the filter material through an outlet area in which the flow direction is parallel with the direction of the main direction plane of the fibres. - Filtering water (for drinking or for swimming pools), oils or gasoline. - The ratio of the size of the filter inlet area to outlet area is high, e.g. above 50. |
