PURPOSE:To offer the titled compact high-safety press which can reduce base rigidity to the minimal necessity and easily set vulcanizing pressure, by independently arranging each of the opening and closing means of a metal die device, provided with upper and lower die elements each of which can be freely opened frorm or closed with the other, and a vulcanizing means. CONSTITUTION:A metal die-pressing means 32 is arranged independently from a metal die-opening or closing means 25. A hydraulically expansible cylinder means 35 is vertically arranged to a base 12 at a position corresponding to a part 33, to be engaged, formed at a dome side, and a press rod 43 is coupled to the center of a piston 40. An engaging part 45 is fixed to the end of the rod 43, and an engaging or disengaging drive body 53 is engaged with a pinion 52 formed on the extending part of a piston rod 49 so that the engaging part 45 can be freely coupled with or separated from the part 33 to be engaged. The engaging part 45 is coupled with the part 33 to be engaged, fluid pressure is let act on the piston 40, and the upper die element 18 is pressed through the dome 16. |
