PURPOSE:To obtain an interior member for an automobile, which member has a good appearance, and can be assembled in a fewer processes, by forming part of a compression molded plate member into an uncompressed, soft, linear part capable of being folded. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting synthetic resin powder is added to a resin composite material such as a fibrous material including reclaimed wool felt, and is compressed under heat to be hardened and molded into a sound insulating cover 1 comprising integrally a main body part 1a and an attaching part 1c with therebetween the uncompressed, foldable, linear soft part 1a. The attaching part 1c is attached by screws 8 or the like to a partition 7 located between an engine chamber 6 and a car room 5 below an instrument panel 4, the main body part 1b is bent at the soft part 1a, and the opposite end 1e is secured to a lower frame 4a of the panel 4 by screws 9 or the like. |
