摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a substrate with a uniform degree of surface roughness by disposing a rotating shaft of a rotary grinder so that is is not perpendicular to a plane orthogonal to the central axis of the substrate and by grinding by a rotating surface not parallel with the rotating shaft when manufacturing the surface of the substrate for the electrophotographic receptor by grinding. CONSTITUTION:A tubular or cylindrical substrate material 1 is rotated around its central axis X. After bringing an end surface of a grinder 2 revolving around a rotating shaft Y having various 0-45 deg. angles with respect to a plane orthogonal to X into contact with the surface of the material 1, the grinder 2 is run in the axis X direction to grind the surface of the material 1. It is not always necessary that the shaft Y intersects the X. The grinder 2 is provided at one end of a bar 5 which is pivotally supported at a fulcrum 3 by a supporting body 4 so as to swing freely, and its press-contacting force is adjusted by a heavy weight 6 fixed at the other bar 5 end and a heavy weight 7 movable along the bar 5 in its lengthwise direction. The uniform degree of surface roughness and the uniform light reflectance are given, and good suitability for a regenerating treatment is also obtained.
