PURPOSE:To control a perfect solidification position within a target range with good accuracy by detecting solidification thickness in the prescribed position prior to perfect solidification of an ingot, estimating the perfect solidification position by the use of an improved solidification thickness growth equation and changing the casting speed and cooling intensity. CONSTITUTION:In continuous casting, solidification thickness is detected with a solidification thickness detector (b) at the point having >=80% solidification thickness before the point where an ingot solidifies perfectly, and the value thereof is put into an operator (e). On the other hand, the detected value of a casting speed detector (a) is tracked with a tracking device (c), and this information as well as the information of a condition setter (d) are fed to an operator (e), which determines the perfect solidification position by using the solidification thickness growth equation wherein the solidifying rate is larger than <=80% the solidification thickness. The manipulated variables of the casting speed, cooling water flow rate, etc. are operated with an operator (f) and are commanded to a casting speed controller (g) and a casting intensity controller (h). Thereby, the perfect solidification position is controlled with good accuracy and the casting is optimized. |
