PURPOSE:A heat-accumulating agent capable of stably evolving heat at a predetermined temp. for a long time without supercooling or phase separation, which is obtd. by the addition of boric acid to an inorg. salt hydrate of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal. CONSTITUTION:Boric acid is added to an inorg salt hydrate of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal. An amt. of the boric acid to be added is, through different depending on the kind of the hydrate, at least 0.1wt%, pref. at least 0.5wt%, based on the resulting composition. The upper limit of said amt. is practically 20wt% or less, pref. up to 10wt% because an increased amt. of addition results in the reduction in the density of accumulated heat. USE:For example, it is possible to use calcium chloride hexahydrate, sodium sulfate decahydrate, sodium carbonate decahydrate, etc. of m.p. somewhat higher than room temp. for a variety of heat accumulation such as for an agricultural instrument, e.g., an agricultural vinyl house heater by combining with solar heat or another heat source. |
