PURPOSE:To make stable switching of light possible by making linearly polarized light incident to a biaxial crystal, and changing the azimuth of said linearly polarized light. CONSTITUTION:The light of a light source 2 such as an optical fiber which emits linearly polarized light is made to parallel beams by a lens 3, and these beams are passed through an optical rotator 4 having an electrooptic effect, whereby the oscillating direction of the linearly polarized light is rotated arbitrarily. Such light is made incident to a biaxial crystal 1 in such a way that the normal direction of the wave surface of the refracted light aligns to the optical axis. According to the oscillating directions, it is possible to feed the light to one of optical fibers 6, 8, 10 having condenser lenses 5, 7, 9. Thereby, the stable switching of the light is accomplished. |
