The invention relates to a reflecting display device (head-up display) as is used in aircraft. This device uses an optical system containing a semireflecting mirror to reflect additional information, e.g. information represented on a cathode ray tube, into the field of view of the pilot. According to the invention, use is made as the superimposition mirror of a dichroitic mirror of a type such that the mirror reflects strongly in the frequency band of the light coming from the cathode ray tube but is effectively transparent for other light. As a result, the brightness of the reflected information is increased without substantially impairing the observation of the world outside by the pilot.
