830,629. High-frequency systems. BAZIN, R. E. July 29, 1958 [May 13, 1957], No. 15165/57. Class 38 (4). A protective system for a H.F. dielectric heating generator 1, 2, 5 interrupts the supply 3 when the generator is delivering excessive current by means of contacts (not shown) operated by a relay coil 6 which is shunted by a thyratron 7 fired by an additional bias developed across a cathode resistor 10, 101. The thyratron standing bias is provided from a resistance network 12-16. The additional bias may be alternatively provided by an anode resistor, or a separate circuit energized when metallic contact between the electrodes is made. The relay coil 6 may be connected directly into the generator circuit. The generator may be built into the machine to eliminate H.F. cables, the current being led to the live electrode by means of a tuned air-spaced stub. |
