In a broadcaster which can be attached to a tractor or the like, for the scattering of any desired material over a wide area, a broadcasting tool (46) is arranged with the ability to move transversely to the direction of travel under the outlet opening (20) of a hopper, the vibration amplitude of the tool being variable in such a way in synchronism with the outlet cross-section of the outlet opening that for differing widths of scatter, the amount broadcast per unit area remains (adjustably) uniform. The broadcasting tool is driven via a rocker lever which, at its ends, supports two belt pulleys over which is guided a belt additionally guided over an intermediate belt pulley which can be driven with adjustable eccentricity by a drive shaft (54). The eccentricity can be adjusted by means of an adjusting lever (28) in synchronism with the change in the outlet cross-section of the outlet opening (20). <IMAGE>
