Method of cleaning pipes inserted in the ground during trenchless laying, in which method the excavating and receiving of the soil (3) is carried out during the displacement of a working member along the pipe (2) under the action of vibratory impact loads while a foundation layer (7) of soil (3) is simultaneously formed in the pipe, which foundation layer (7) ensures that reactive loads arising during the displacement of the working member are absorbed and changes the direction of the vibratory impact loads in the opposite direction after the soil (6) is received, the foundation layer (7) being removed after all cleaning cycles of the pipe (2) are complete. The device for realising the method contains a working member which is provided with an element for keeping hold of the soil (6) during the excavation and is designed in the form of a capsule (5), the closed end face of which is rigidly connected to a reversible pneumatic punch (4), while the part of the open end face (8) nearest the base of the pipe (2) is constructed with a bevel (9) on the outer surface of the capsule (5). The angle of inclination of the generating line of the bevel (9) relative to the base of the pipe (2) is selected in such a way as to ensure that the foundation layer (7) of soil (3) for absorbing reactive loads during the movement of the capsule (5) is formed during the displacement of the capsule (5) in the base area of the pipe (2). <IMAGE>
