Method and apparatus for regulating the heat quantities of a positively circulated liquid heat-transfer medium which are to be dispensed to a consumer, such as, for example, calender rolls, or which are to be received from a generator. By means of a regulating valve (4) in the inflow line (3) leading from the pump (2) to the consumer (1), the quantity of the heat-transfer medium circulated per unit time is varied in dependence on the temperature difference between the forward flow and return flow, in that, with a decreasing heat demand of the heat consumer or with a decreasing heat emission of the heat generator (1), the pump pressure is increased and, with an increasing heat demand of the consumer (1) or with an increasing heat emission of the generator (1), the pump pressure is decreased, in order respectively to reduce or increase the quantity of the heat-transfer medium circulated per unit time. <IMAGE>
