The present invention relates to novel bicyclic carbonic acid derivatives of the formula (I) <IMAGE> in which A is the <IMAGE> group or oxygen, to a process for the preparation of compounds of the formula (I) from pentaerythritol and a carbonic acid derivative via a soluble precursor, a crosslinked polycarbonate and the depolymerisation thereof, to the use of compounds of the formula (I) as copolymerisation components in the preparation of polycarbonates, and to copolymers obtainable from compounds of the formula (I) and ring carbonates.
