The invention relates to an alternating flasher for two-wheeled vehicles having a generator, having a rectifier, having a capacitor which is connected in series to this rectifier, having a single-pole change-over switch for switching on the indicator lights which are fed by the generator for turning to the right and turning to the left and having an electronic circuit which produces the flashing frequency. Known alternating flashers of this kind have in particular the disadvantage that they are of comparatively complicated design and do not readily indicate the failure of an indicator light. A new alternating flasher is provided in which a freely oscillating multivibrator is used as frequency-producing switch and in which a diode is connected on the one hand directly to one pole of the generator and on the other hand to the other pole via a RC element, a switching element being connected in parallel to this RC element and the switching element, the diode and the resistor of the RC element being dimensioned in such a way that under normal circumstances (indicator lights functioning correctly) the switching element is not activated whereas in the event of one indicator light failing the switching element is driven and resistors are connected in parallel to the time-determining resistors of the multivibrator. <IMAGE>
