Film support for a tape for magnetic recordings

The invention relates to a film support for a tape for magnetic recordings which has an F5 value of from 90 to 150 N/mm<2>, measured both in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction, and in which the ratio between the average surface roughness and the particle size of the included particles is from 2.0 x 10<-3> to 5.1 x 10<-3>. The average surface roughness is preferably from 0.005 to 0.040 mu m. The magnetic recording tape produced therefrom has improved running properties and improved resistance to abrasion and good surface properties.
