A method of spinning fibres, particularly of thermoplastics material (e.g. polyolefins), intended for absorption of hydrophobic liquid, includes the steps of extruding melted thermoplastics material 12 radially outwards, through at least one rotating spinneret 5, to form fibres 13 of melted thermoplastics material around the periphery of the spinneret, and providing cooling medium 18 moving axially with respect to and through the spinneret at a central portion of said spinneret for flowing between and cooling the fibres of melted thermoplastic material to keep the fibres apart until they have solidified. <IMAGE> |
