PURPOSE:To detect the same or similar pattern stably and also at a high rate, by calculating a coefficient of correlation between an analog or digital input data and a reference data showing a reference pattern prepared in advance. CONSTITUTION:A pattern input data P (x) and a reference data R (x) are led to a correlation coefficient calculating circuit 10, and a degree of similarity of a pattern is calculated by calculating a coefficient of correlation f (x). That is to say, a coefficient of correlation between an input data and a reference data prepared in advance is calculated by the correlation coefficient calculating circuits 10, 32, and from outpts of these calculating circuits, an input data whose pattern coincides with the reference data most similarly is decided by a deciding circuit 34. |
