PURPOSE:To test blank materials over a long friction distance always on the fresh surface by bringing the respective test blank materials and a cutting tool into contact with the cylindrical surface of a revolving cylindrical blank material alternately from the beginning to final end. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical blank material 1 is gripped between the chuck 8 fitted to a spindle 7 and a revolving center 10 provided a tail stock 9, and a cutting tool 3 and a blank material 2 to be tested are fitted on a tool post 16. The tool post 16 is advanced to cut the material 1 by a prescribed amt. with the tool 3. The tool post 16 is rotated 180 deg. and the material 2 is pressed to the material 1 to cause contact by friction, whereby the test is carried out. The tool post 16 is rotated 180 deg. and the degree of deformation and the rate of abrasion of the material 2 are measured with a measuring sensor 4. The above stage is accomplished repeatedly until the diameter of the material 1 attains a prescribed size or below or the preset times are attained, whereby the testing of the long friction distance is accomplished always on the fresh surface of the material 1. |
